"In early 2016 the re-negotiation of our Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) had completely stalled. I was under significant pressure to resolve the matter as soon as possible but found that all attempts to engage with the representative Unions and employees were not progressing.
Having worked with John in a previous role I had already observed him operate in the toughest of environments, successfully delivering results where others could not. As a result, I engaged John and one of his senior IR practitioners in early 2016.
Immediately upon commencing with us, I saw an improvement in the interactions between our business, the unions and employee representatives. John’s reputation as a ‘firm but fair’ IR executive preceded him and his presence in meetings was a huge relief and support to my team.
The Bangalley team member that we put into an interim IR role (under Johns direct guidance) at our manufacturing site proved hugely beneficial and completely changed the employer/employee relationship at the site for the better.
John’s advocacy for our organisation in Fair Work Australia (FWA) was also of massive benefit to us.
I have no doubt that we would of achieved a positive result in the EBA negotiations but the parent company sold the ANZ arm of the business prior to us being able to deliver this outcome. John’s guidance through this phase was also pivotal."
